Hellerwork Workshop

Introduction to Hellerwork Structural Integration workshops

by Caroline Tremlett

Improve Your Horsemanship
The principles of Structural Integration has evolved into the world of horses with Hellerwork and Rolfing practitioners such as Joseph Freeman, Stuart Bell and Jim Pascucci becoming specialists in equine movement using myofascial work with the connective tissues of horses.  The poise and grace of self carriage within horses is dependent on the flexibility, adaptability, strength and resilience of the horses connective tissue matrix, which like ours, is a dynamic and uniquely balanced relationship.

How truly balanced and fluid we are in our own connective tissue matrix will have a direct influence on our horses ability to move with the wonderment and ease that we desire.  However, do we seriously reflect and work to address our own imbalances, restrictions, injuries or pain in our own myofascial structures.

This workshop is about standing back from our horses to untangle and understand our own structure and functional patterns so we learn to separate these from those of our horses.  Once we able to this, we can then recognise the compensations our horses have to make in response to the rigidity or imbalances within our own connective tissues.  Addressing and changing these patterns in ourselves, will help to make a difference to our horses.
